COLONEL JOE O. BELLINO, CMDR, 8th TRANSPORTATION GROUP |

Colonel Joe O. Bellino
(left) was commander of the 8th Transportation Group, Vietnam, from 1967
to 1968.
He was instrumental in
initiating the "Hardened Convoy Concept," and encouraging development of
the armored gun trucks. The yellow-nosed trucks of 8th Group were a
familiar sign in convoys throughout the highlands.
The Deputy DCSLOG in
December 1968, stated:
"During
the Tet Offensive, the 8th Group did more to enhance the Transportation
Corps than any other thing since its inception in 1942."
